If you’ve been in the travel and tourism industry for any length of time, you know how difficult it is to get government in the United States to support (or even acknowledge) the value of tourism.

And, if you’ve been in the industry for any length of time, you’ve probably attended an educational session with Dr. Peter E. Tarlow. I’ve seen him at several group travel trade shows, and he is an expert on the business of travel.

Tarlow, in a recent article, put travel and tourism in terms that the government should understand—export commodity. More than that, it’s a renewable export commodity.
